Travel Itinerary
Day 1. - AREQUIPA / COLCA
We pick you up from your hotel between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM to begin our journey to the spectacular Colca Valley. We travel along the slopes of the Chachani, Misti and Pichupichu volcanoes, arriving at Pampa Cañahuas, part of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we can observe vicuñas in their natural habitat at 4,000 meters above sea level.
We continue to Alto Sumbay, an Andean community known for its impressive rock formations and views of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. Here, we take a short break to enjoy a traditional Mate de Coca or coffee and help acclimatize to the altitude (restroom facilities available).
Next, we cross the Tocra area at 4,400 meters, where we can spot wild birds and see llamas and alpacas across the high plateau. We reach our highest point at Pata Pampa (4,910 meters above sea level), offering panoramic views of the Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca and Mismi volcanoes, as well as the Chila mountain range.
We then arrive in Chivay (3,651 meters above sea level), the capital of the Colca Valley, where you can enjoy lunch (not included) before checking in at your selected hotel. In the afternoon, relax in the hot springs. After returning to Chivay, enjoy a traditional folk show, followed by dinner (not included).
Day 2. - COLCA / CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR - AREQUIPA
After breakfast, we head to Cruz del Cóndor, stopping in Yanque to admire its colonial church and traditional dances.
At Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, enjoy spectacular views of the Colca Canyon and, weather permitting, observe Andean condors soaring above the canyon.
On the return journey, stop at the Antahuilque and Huayrapunko viewpoints for panoramic views of the Colca Valley and its ancient pre-Inca terraces. We also visit the village of Maca before lunch in Chivay (not included).
Finally, return to Arequipa, arriving between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, with transfer to your hotel if located in the historic center.
