Travel Itinerary
Day 1. - Arequipa – Chivay – Cruz del Cóndor – Sangalle Oasis
03:00h – Pickup from your hotel in the city of Arequipa or meeting point.
Departure towards the Colca Valley and Canyon. The trip will be direct to Chivay, where we will have breakfast in one of the villages in the valley.
Then we will continue to Cruz del Cóndor, the main viewpoint of Colca Canyon, where we will observe the majestic flight of the Andean condor and the impressive depth of the canyon.
Afterwards, we will head to Pampa San Miguel, near the village of Cabanaconde, the starting point of our hike.
Approximately 10:00h – Start of the trek descending into the interior of Colca Canyon for approximately 4 hours along zigzag trails until reaching San Juan de Chuccho, located at around 2,000 m.a.s.l.
Upon arrival, we will have lunch prepared by a local family.
After a short rest, we will continue walking for approximately 3 more hours through traditional villages such as:
• Cosñirhua
• Malata
Finally, we will arrive at Sangalle Oasis, where we will have free time to enjoy the pools and nature.
Dinner and overnight stay in a rustic bungalow in Sangalle -Oasis.
Day 2. - Sangalle Oasis – Cabanaconde – Chivay – Arequipa
Approximately 04:30h – Start of the uphill hike to the village of Cabanaconde. The hike lasts approximately 4 hours.
Upon arrival, we will have breakfast.
Then we will return by transport to Chivay, making stops at:
• Maca Village
• Colca Valley viewpoints
Afterwards, we will visit the hot springs, where we will have approximately 40 minutes to enjoy the medicinal waters with temperatures between 30 °C and 35 °C.
Then we will head to a local restaurant for lunch (optional).
After lunch, we will begin the return trip to Arequipa. Along the way, we will stop at:
• Patapampa (Andes Viewpoint – 4,900 m.a.s.l.)
• Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve
Observation of Andean wildlife such as:
• Vicuñas
• Alpacas
• Llamas
• Migratory birds
Approximately 18:00h – Arrival in the historic center of Arequipa.
